Great Lakes Pollinator Task Force Strategy Workshop
Project Overview:
The Great Lakes Pollinator Task Force (GLPTF) is a collaboration of United States government agencies working together to conserve pollinators (e.g. native bees) in the Great Lakes basin. Member agencies include the United States Fish & Wildlife Service, United States Geological Survey, National Parks Service, United States Forest Service, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and more.
People & Planet Consulting facilitated a 3-day in-person workshop to help the GLPTF decide on a 5-year strategy and action plan for 2025-2029. Eight participants attended the workshop. GLPTF members who were unable to attend the workshop provided input through a survey in advance.
The workshop objectives were to:
- Come to consensus on a clear direction for the new Great Lakes Pollinator Conservation Strategy and 5-year action plan (2025-2029).
- Move their ongoing strategic planning process forward and have an outline and assigned next steps and tasks for a revised strategy by the end of the workshop.
Client Results:
- Participants aligned on a clear direction for their new strategy and action plan.
- Clarity on which parts of their old strategy and action plan they would keep and which parts they would update.
- Integrated new ideas on how to incorporate climate change and environmental justice into their strategy.
- A set of next-step tasks assigned to key people with associated timelines.
- The GLPTF coordinator, who usually facilitates their meetings, was able to participate fully in the workshop (rather than try to also be a neutral facilitator).
