Perspicuity

Keep the decision
and the work together.

AI can open up more possibilities than you have time to follow. Perspicuity is our way of helping you explore that capacity while staying connected to the work. One core skill carries your intention through a decision, action and review, with one evolving record.

Make the choice yourself, or delegate it within clear limits. Save the record and supply it when you return, so your assistant can use the earlier decision and current position.

One skill, one record

Give the work a clear direction
and room to develop.

Our design philosophy is one core skill for a whole piece of work. Give your agent the purpose, context and limits it needs, then room to investigate possibilities and choose useful methods. The intention, decision and follow-up stay connected.

Specialist skills can help with research, code or other tasks when needed. The core provides a shared account of what you are trying to achieve, what has been decided and what happens next.

Understand

Work out what matters.

Frame the choice and compare the possibilities, with evidence and uncertainty in view.

Choose

Agree what to do.

Keep the decision, its reasons and the limits on action clear.

Act

Carry it into practice.

Do the authorized work, check the outputs and correct what needs attention.

Review

Return to the result.

Compare what happened with what you hoped for and decide what comes next.

One evolving record connects the work.

Return to any part when circumstances change. Your deliverables stay in the tools where you already work.

Know where things stand

A record you can question
and return to.

The record connects your objectives with the alternatives, evidence, choice and follow-up. It gives people and agents a shared account to question and carry into the next session.

Keep the main account clear enough to read, with detailed support linked where useful. Maintaining and reviewing it takes attention. Its value depends on whether it helps you understand, act or learn.

Getting started

Bring one piece of work.

Choose a decision you want help with. Tell your AI assistant what you want to achieve, what it may do and what would count as a useful result. Use the same record as the work develops.

Get the Perspicuity skill

A skill gives your AI assistant reusable instructions. Perspicuity’s instructions support the decision, authorized work and follow-up. Save the record so you can use it again in your next session.

Perspicuity is available as a public preview.

What happens when you return?

Supply the saved record to your assistant. It can use the current position, earlier choice and next action to continue the work. A review can have a named owner and a date or trigger.

The skill does not run between sessions by itself. A scheduled check needs a reminder or scheduler that has actually been set up.

The story behind it

From a decision prompt
to Perspicuity.

Laura’s original decision-coaching prompt brought the PrOACT process from Smart Choices, by John S. Hammond, Ralph L. Keeney and Howard Raiffa, into an AI conversation.

Perspicuity builds on that starting point, carrying the choice into action and review, with one record to keep the context together.

The original prompt and its sources

The original prompt remains a separate starting point for a conversation about a decision. Read Laura’s original prompt, or download it as PDF or Markdown.

When sharing an adapted prompt or skill, credit the sources, keep the attribution and licence information, and make your changes clear.

Our purpose guides the work.

We support AI uses and further advances where evidence supports worthwhile benefits, credible human control, and proportionate protection against harm. We reassess those conditions as capabilities and outcomes change.

People and planet in our AI work

We ask who benefits, who bears the costs and whether protection reaches those affected. We support public action that protects access to life’s necessities as technology changes how people earn a living. Environmental demands and the interests of non-human life belong in that assessment.

You can work through it with us.

If you would like support with the decision or the process, we would be glad to hear what you are working on.
